M D Flyn: Writer Identity System
M D Flyn (2016–Present)
Overview
M.D. Flyn is a fiction writer whose work is atmospheric, introspective, and grounded in emotional depth. The goal was to design an identity that felt quiet, intentional, and supportive of long-form creative storytelling — something that could grow with the author over time.
Role: Identity designer and narrative brand guide.
Scope
- Early visual identity development
- Color and typography system
- Brand style exploration
- Foundation for future publication and web presence
What I Led
I created a visual language that mirrors the author’s voice — minimalist, intimate, and evocative. Instead of heavy visual elements, the brand relies on mood, intentional use of space, and restrained color choices to create a sense of literary calm.
Work
The identity uses subtle tones, classic typography, and a layout approach that prioritizes readability and atmosphere. The design direction supports book covers, website content, social posts, and branded materials without overwhelming the writing itself.
Reflection
This project reaffirmed how a brand can serve as a quiet companion to creative work. The identity strengthens the author’s presence without disrupting the intimate relationship between writer and reader.
